"Uh Oh..I need to train around that chronic right shoulder again." That's not what I wanted to be hearing myself say. As a strength and power athlete, I need to be able to move heavy weights fast and generate force quickly. A world class masters track & field athlete (hammer throw), I had a training schedule planned out leading to the World Championships in 8 months. I turned to Martin Murphy at The Athletes Point for help. What had been some inflammation and restricted movement had migrated to a constant, dull pain. I tried to chase the pain away with anti-inflammatory drugs. The combined treatment modalities of acupuncture and ART removed the pain immediately and improved my range of motion with the first visit. Over the next few weeks, I gained increased flexibility and better postural alignment with the shoulders. I initially saw Martin Murphy for a repetitive motion injury, he not only eliminated the pain, but worked on bringing my whole body into balance. He helped me uncover that I have food sensitivities and with eliminating these foods I feel better than I have in years. Living in the Willamette Valley, I have been plagued by severe allergies since childhood. Literally I had not been able to breathe through my nose for years, in spite of trying multiple OTC and prescription remedies. I was skeptical and a bit nervous my first visit, and Martin immediately impressed me with his professionalism and sensitivity. But what really impressed me was being able to breathe clearly for the first time in my adult life as I left his office. No sinus allergies for a month and a half, and with regular check-ups I have remained allergy free with no pharmaceuticals needed through the entire allergy season.
